Dressing for the 2017 US Open
Competition is going to be hot at Erin Hills in the Kettle Moraine region of Wisconsin and so is the weather so what do you wear? Shorts or very lightweight pants for men and shorts, skorts or dresses for the gals. Go with light colors so as not to draw in the heat. If you want to blend in with the terrain in Kettle Moraine, think green grass and yellow fescue. Days will be in the 80s if the predictions are correct with over 50% humidity. Most golf apparel fabrics are weaved with high tech performance dry wicking and many have sunscreen built in for comfort and protection but that doesn’t mean you should skip the sunscreen!
Guys and gals will stroll comfortably in Antigua shorts or skorts to match any top.
For cute and comfy dresses with matching shorties, check out Chase 54, EP PRO NY and Tea 2 Sea. For lightweight summer pants for men, look to Chase 54 again.
It is always fun to shop the merchandise tent for official apparel. This year you can get US Open T-shirts, jackets and sweaters from official outfitters Polo Ralph Lauren, Adidas Golf, Cutter & Buck and Nike. Hats by AHEAD will have the Shamrock logo graphically depicted on many shapes, and colors. Items may also be purchased in advance online.
The forecast is calling for a chance of rain; even thunderstorms so go with a Gustbuster umbrella for insurance. Keep your feet dry with weatherproof shoes by Footjoy, Adidas or Skechers and walk all 18 holes.
Just in case the bugs like the humidity, take some repellent and for sure have your sharpie ready for autographs.
Rain or shine, if you are lucky enough to go to the US Open, you will find the folks of Wisconsin are some of the friendliest and happiest people on earth. Maybe it’s the beer.
