Given the huge scope of the PGA Merchandise Show that takes place in Orlando each year, small apparel manufacturers’ booths can get overshadowed by mega companies like Adidas, Footjoy and Cutter & Buck. But this year, one company stood out despite its small amount of real estate: Katanya. It was the soft colors, the classy fit and luxurious fabrics that caught my eye. There wasn’t one piece of apparel that I would not have loved wearing.
Katanya specializes is apparel for those who value cashmere, Italian leather, and understated but superb design— and don’t mind paying for it. Katanya produce tops, skirts, skorts, shorts, pants, cashmere sweaters and shawls, shoes, belts and handbags in coordinating colors like creamsicle, honey, sea foam, blue, white, off white, grey, navy, taupe, peony, and orchid. And whether you select a pair of shorts, a skort, a polo shirt, a pair of the softest Driver shoes and one of their handbags, you hardly have to think when you put the colors together. They all compliment each other.
The fit is another thing: pants shape your legs in a flattering slim manner while a side slit at the bottom adds a sexy tease. Clean lines of the tops from the cashmere V-neck sweaters to performance fabric polos keep you looking “put together” no matter how many times you swing and belts and shoes, handmade in Tuscany, Italy from fine leather, punctuate your look. Top it all off by carrying a beautifully sculptured Bucket Bag with a matching pouch ($250) or a smaller wristlet bag with wonderfully skinny straps ($140).
Cashmere sweaters, shawls and tops are made from 100% Mongolian wool rendering them comfortable and lightweight. Performance fabrics combine stretch, UV protection, moisture management, and odor control qualities while silk is used along with cashmere in the scarves and shawls and crisp linen on the collars assures they will stay upright it that’s the look you want.
