The look of Puma’s spiked golf shoes hasn’t changed much over the last few years. They are rimmed with an upside-down Puma swoosh that wraps around the shoe, they come in two or three bold colors, and have a more rounded toe that gives the overall classic shape a contemporary edge. What has changed, however, is the way they feel.
Up to now, the term “memory foam” has mostly been associated with form fitting pillows and beds that reportedly help support the naturally bone structure, saving necks and backs from discomfort. Why not do the same for feet? Puma has.
Puma has developed a type of memory foam for the new TITANTOUR IGNITE golf shoe for men called Ignite Foam. The Ignite Foam claims to add exttra stability and comfort. It’s larger purpose is to help save feet so that avid golfers can play longer. “Comfort never quits” is the motto that Puma has associated with the shoe, and in the following promo video with Rickie Fowler, this is the message they are going after:
The comfort of the built in Ignite Foam isn’t all though. The shoes also incorporate technology designed to keep the feet cool. PWRCOOL powered by Outlast is a phase changing material that claims to regulate temperature within the lining of the shoe. The material is said to absorb, store, and release heat rather than lock it in. Thus, making the TITANTOUR IGNITE also “the coolest shoe in golf” according to Rickie Fowler in a separate review of the Puma shoe.
Then there is also the Duoflex Sole of the TITANTOUR IGNITE shoes, which allows the foot to bend and flex in order to perform naturally throughout the golf swing. It is also said to help maximize power through a springlike effect. This should eliminate any concerns about feeling stuck or slow moving due to the cushioning from the Ignite Foam. The flexible plateless in the shoe instead act as a launching pad for a more powerful swing.
To finish it off, the TITANTOUR IGNITE golf shoe has a durable leather exterior that will keep the feet as dry and protected as any other shoe in golf. The exterior sole stands upon durable, but interchangeable, spike wheels as well. The spikes allow for extra resistance and stability on unstable terrain.
As for appearances, it’s Puma thing. And the look continues to grow as iconic as the rest of Puma’s outfitting that has become popular through the trend setting of Rickie Fowler who arguably wears them best.
